Snowdonia Wildlife Gardening Competition
The closing date is nearing for the annual gardening competition run by the Snowdonia Wildlife Gardening Partnership. If you live in Gwyneth, Conwy or Anglesey you have until 28 May to enter. Schools, businesses, community groups and anyone who wants to enhance their garden or local area can take part.
The competition partnership aims to promote the creation of an attractive and welcoming garden to both wildlife and people.
Reasons for getting involved include:
- brightening up your local patch
- developing a community spirit
- promoting the local environment and sustainable practices
- to encourage wildlife in the garden and add to the variety of plants and animals in Gwynedd, Conwy and Anglesey.
The judges are looking for:
- a variety of garden features that support wildlife - eg nest boxes, bird tables, hedges, ponds
- different plants to provide food and refuge for wildlife all year round
- sensitive use of natural resources - eg use of peat-free composts
Gardens can achieve bronze, silver or gold awards as well as a special prize for best garden in each category.
Prizes will be awarded on 10 July.
